Recently, or at least not that recent, 19th November 2023, I did a hike to the Dome Pools in the Magaliesberg area, and I must say, it was a pleasant surprise. It was neither easy or too difficult. If I had to grade it, I would put it as a moderate hike.
It was in total a 8 km hike with some good climbs, but to cool down, you just have to jump into the mountain pools, hence Dome Pools. They where such a good cooling down mechanism. The nature surrounding the dome pools are absolutely brilliant.
The trail isn’t marked with the traditional footprint markers, but rather the old cairns, or little rock pyramids.
You have to book the trail via the Mountain Club of South Africa, website and bookings can be found here: https://magaliesberg.mcsa.org.za/properties/dome-pools/, and at the time, it was about R90 per person.
Always remember when hiking, keep the trail clean! If you see litter pick it up and discard of it at the correct facilities.
Happy hiking and until the next time!
